Mister Lies is the atmosphere-driven musical alias of composer, producer and sound artist Nick Zanca (b. 1992). The project was founded in 2012 with the release of the Hidden Neighbors EP while studying in Chicago. Since then, they have released two LPs and several short form ambient, club and avant-pop releases. Zanca is currently based in Queens and is a founding member of the band Quiet Friend.

Lil Tweaky by STARBEAM

lil tweaky

An interesting name. What’s the first thing that pops in your head when you read ‘Lil Tweaky’? I didn’t know what to expect when I first clicked play. She already had a kind of cool aesthetic from her profile so I kinda already knew I’d feel her steeze. She’s partnered with a melodic producer named 3m Shadow and simultaneously has her own music style while  is putting emphasis on her vocals and lyrics.

I kind of get an image of like a Neo Roman vibe when I’m listening to her.

She just dropped a tape called 444- STOP-CALLING on SoundCloud (FEATURED BELOW) and I’m really understanding what she’s contributing to her type of music.

It’s really transparent, you can tell she has emotions and acts on them. I really like the way she constructs her words and her vague persona. “Two Faces” is heavy snare beat with a high note flute undertone it sounds like-but she has a deep underlying vocal behind her.. it sounds good and penetrating. It looks like she produced a song on there too. I’m excited to see what she can create and see her live one day. I feel like she’s from Florida I can hear her based roots showing up on some of her tracks.

It’s really heat. Her vocals are really strong but far away at the same time.

There’s also a lil bit of soul in the mix.

This year feels like a big one for female artists and I’m in the stands cheering and stanning.

Bombay Bicycle Club announces their recent surge of inspiration

it was an unknown day in late 2012 or so that i was able to be blessed by the song Always Like This by Bombay Bicycle Club. it was right around the time insanity struck and i didn’t leave my parents house for three months. during this period of time i had this song on repeat. since then it has been a gem to every playlist i created.

this morning i awoke to a tweet speaking of the inspirational return of this group. i couldn’t even believe it. JUST last week i played this song and did some research to find they haven’t really been publishing anything new for quite some time.

the universe has a really funny way of responding to you if you’re paying attention.

Monday January 14th Bombay Bicycle Club shared this tweet:

we’re highly anticipating the latest from them and will keep our eyes out for any more news.

listen to: How To Act by N3JI feat. H20 (prod. by DJENKO)

Our brother N3JI is undergoing a transformation right now.

Formally known as Neji Vibez, N3JI is heading off on a journey now. His hard work has been deeply paying off. From performing all over Louisiana’s favorite cities, he’s recently been finding himself in Atlanta, to Los Angeles, and more. We haven’t gotten any updates from N3JI concerning the next city he will be performing in.

NEW to the internet is How To Act produced by another brilliant member of teamkilleveryone, DJENKO. Watch the official video below:

experience: Nobody by Mitski from STARBEAM

Enjoy the official video for Nobody by Mitski

To me Mitski is the human version of the low key Jamaican spot that nobody knows about in town but they have the 10.99 special with enough food to bring home. Her vocal range is surprising and she has this aura about her that makes her seem like she probably wears Bape and Cvlt Aesthetics. Her music is really sad but also hopeful. I think she is more honest than a lot of other artist with her emotions and the things she goes through. Her vibe fits most moods and her songs and metaphors are almost nostalgic in a way. She reminds me of a based version of Lorde if that possible. “Bury me at Makeout Cove” is an earlier album that’s perfect to start at if you want to dive in. This song “Nobody” was making me cry all summer. Enjoy
